This Book marks the Centenary of Canberra and the 175th anniversary of Quueanbeyan. When Canberra was declared capital of Australia it was said to need access to a sea port.
Jervis Bay Territory was annexed from NSW to be the new port.
At the same time Henry Ferdinand Halloran was looking for development opportunities, so he bought land and planned major developments around Jervis Bay and Canberra.
